STEVE BEARD
Project Manager + Principal, Ochona LLC
Education: Bachelor of Industrial Occupations, Tarleton State University
Associate of Architectural Drafting & Design, Texas State Technical College

"Project management and design can be summarized by an industry cliché: Work smarter, not harder."
It means utilizing all resources in the most efficient manner to achieve a common goal, and after 8 years of project management combined with 10 plus years of CAD design experience, Steve has learned how to design and manage projects with efficiency and integrity, working for 5 years with small local design/management firms and 5 years with the largest semiconductor plant in North America.

His design experience ranges from single-family residential to large scale commercial build-outs. His experience also includes space planning and management consulting for multiple large companies around the Austin metro area and throughout the nation. He spent the last 3 years in business innovation utilizing his project management skills to investigate and improve internal business processes by implementing process improvement solutions.

After years of being away from the architecture industry, he found his way back and renewed his love for design and architectural-related project management. Through his years of diverse experience with multiple industry cultures and fast paced environments, he has acquired the ability to serve customers in a unique capacity, offer memorable experiences and build long-term relationships.

DAVID CONLEY
Designer, Ochona LLC
Education: Bachelor of Architecture, University of Texas at Austin
Bachelor of Science, Architectural Engineering, University of Texas at Austin

"I dare say I'll ever see a structure as lovely as a tree." As designers, we have strong responsiblity to create to high standards. If we cannot, we should not do the job. There are a lot of resources that go into creating a project, even before ground is broken. Every step of creating should be mindful of what impact results. We serve our clients by guiding them and ourselves with this philosophy. It also means being selective about the work that is undertaken even when more lucrative paths are obvious.

WILLIAM HODGE AIA
Architect + Principal, Ochona LLC
Education: Bachelor of Architecture with highest honors, The University of Texas at Austin

William's philosophy summarized in three words: Elegance, Efficiency, and Economy.
Architecture is the art of solving problems using form and space. After 19 years and over $3 billion of built projects, William learned how to turn aesthetic visions and financial goals into elegant, efficient, and economical buildings.

He worked for two years after graduation at one of the world's most prestigious architecture firms – SOM in Chicago – where he was a member of the project team that designed the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

After returning to Austin twelve years ago he sought out experiences across the spectrum of architecture – from single-family residences and mixed-use projects in Austin to college laboratories in Brownsville and 600-bed dormitories in College Station and San Marcos. He learned to work closely with builders and budgets; to manage complex regulatory processes; and, most importantly, to advise and serve clients in any and every way possible. He has brought all this experience to Ochona, where we offer a complete client experience.

KARLA RODRIGUEZ
Office Manager, Ochona LLC
Education: Bachelor of Arts in French, Texas State University- San Marcos
Doula, DONA

Karla has been a stellar part of the Ochona team since December. From her experience she is even considering going back to school for Architecture and one day becoming a licensed architect for this firm. As the office manager she handles both the daily operations of the office plus the permitting work that has to be reviewed in order for a project to be approved by the city.

Having other experiences from outside architecture, Karla believes, helps her to understand things from different perspectives. This is what allows her to be able to effectively communicate with great team members and clients of Ochona.

Karla is also a ballroom dancer who has competed for about a year and a half in total and has even taught classes at the studio. She also likes to be with family (this includes her puppy) and do fun activities at the park or just watch movies at home.
